Govt responsible for citizens life, property protection: Shahbaz

LAHORE - Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has said the protection of life and property of the nine crore people of the province is responsibility of the government and he will utilise all his energies for this purpose. He said the life of every person is dearer to him whether he is a labourer or a farmer, trader or a common citizen, therefore, police should fulfill its responsibilities for providing protection to the citizens and it should not hesitate for sacrificing the life. Giving two weeks grace period to Faisalabad police for arresting the accused involved in abduction for ransom and other heinous crimes, he said the accused should be arrested within the given time period at all cost. He expressed these views while talking to representatives of traders community and office-bearers of chamber of commerce and industry during his visit to Faisalabad on Sunday. Shahbaz Sharif said such an effective course of action would be evolved in the province as would create sense of security among every citizen of the province. He said maintenance of law and order and curbing crimes is the top priority of the police and no negligence would be tolerated in this regard. He said Thana Nigran committees are being constituted for improving Thana culture and checking the crimes. He said seminars would be arranged at divisional level for seeking the opinion of the people in this regard so that good reputed people could be included in these committees for achieving effective and lasting results. Chief Minister said posting of honest and good reputed police officers as police station incharge should be ensured for making the police stations as cradle of peace. Earlier, Chief Minister straight away went to the residence of an educational expert Shahadat Ali Sial at Chak No 215-Rab Natheri from Faisalabad Airport who was killed during exchange of firing between police and dacoits one day ago. Chief Minister expressed his sorrow and grief with the family members of late Shahadat Ali and offered fateha for the departed soul. Chief Minister gave cheque of Rs 2 lakh as financial assistance to the bereaved family and announced to bear the educational expenses of school going children of the deceased by the government, job to his daughter, treatment expenses of his daughter suffering from mental disease besides regularising the services of his son working on contract basis. Chief Minister said he equally shares the grief of the bereaved family. Later, Chief Minister visited the emergency ward and dialysis centre at District Headquarters Hospital Faisalabad. Expressing his satisfaction over the performance of dialysis centre, he directed DCO Faisalabad to send a detailed report of all problems relating to the hospital within 48 hours. On the complaints of the attendants of the patients, he also issued orders to the hospital administration for immediate provision of the required medicines and directed the DCO to remain in the hospital till the resolution of problems of all patients. Listening to the problems of citizens and attendants of patients on this occasion, Chief Minister said it is difficult for a poor man to make both ends meet, how can he purchase costly medicines, therefore government is ensuring provision of hundred per cent free medicines of all kinds to the poor patients in the hospitals. Earlier, when Chief Minister arrived at Faisalabad, Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, MNAs Haji Akram Ansari, Abid Sher Ali, MPAs Malik Nawaz, Raza Nasrullah Ghumman, Rana Afzal, Shafiq Gujjar, Khalil Tahir Sindhoo, Joyel Aamir Sahootra, former MNA Mian Farooq, district and divisional officers and office-bearers and workers of PML-N welcomed him at the airport. IG Punjab Tariq Saleem accompanied the Chief Minister.
