Fire damages vehicles


LAHORE - At least four mini-buses and ten trucks were badly damaged when the vehicles caught fire late on Tuesday night here in Baghbanpura area, police and rescue workers said on Wednesday.  Eyewitnesses told the police that the vehicles, parked alongside Bund Road near Daroghawala, caught fire shortly after the main electric wires run into each other and sparked. Rescue workers rushed to the spot and managed to put out the fire after hectic efforts. Further investigations are underway.
Youth dies:  A youth who was admitted to a local hospital with serious bullet injuries died on Wednesday, police said. Police said that the youth, identified as Riasat Ali, a resident of Ghurki, sustained bullet injuries during crossfire with the personnel of Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) near Wahga Border. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he succumbed to wounds. The Hydyara police have registered the case and are investigating. The police handed over the body to the deceased’s family after the autopsy.
