LAHORE - Punjab University has won Gold Medal from Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST) in a 2-day "Invention to Innovation Summit 2013". The Gold Medal was awarded to research group of Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology Dr. Amir Shafeeq, Dr. Ayyaz Muhammad and Muhammad Nasif for their project "Design of Pyrolysis Equipment to Recover Fuels from Plastic Wastes". One of the industrial delegates has also shown his interest to commercialize the project. Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran and ICE&T Director Dr. Aamir Ijaz have congratulated the research group for earning fame for the Punjab University.
RESULTS: PU Examinations Department has declared the results of MSc Communication Studies Film & TV Production (semester system) session 2009-2011, MSc Gender Studies (Morning) semester system, session 2010-12 and BFA (4-Years Programme) Part-II (Painting with Print Making and Sculpture, Graphic Design & Textile Design) S/2011 and A/2012. SEMINAR AT LCWU: Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) organised a seminar on “Dynamics of Electoral Politics in Pakistan” here on Thursday.
The department of Political Science arranged the event where the key note speakers were Justice (R) Dr Nasira Javed Iqbal, famous journalist Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami and an eminent scholar and political analyst Dr Hasan Askari Rizwi.
On the occasion, the speakers were of the view that, ““It is important for us to be empowered and take action in the best way possible, casting our vote and making our voice heard. It is our right, it is our responsibility. The main importance of democracy is the participation of the people in naming their political representatives. It is empowerment for the people and taking action, become an active member of society. The power of voting is the power of change, it's the power of making a mark in history and voicing your opinions. Youth especially students should come forward to cast their votes to strengthen the electoral system.”
Dr. Nasira Javed emphasized on the role of Pakistani women to bring about change in the society through electoral process. She criticized the election procedure for women reserved seats in the legislatures. She urged the students to come forward and play their role as an active citizen.
Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami traced back the history of Pakistan’s electoral history and highlighted the sanctity of vote in a democratic set-up. He also emphasized the power of youth to break the status quo.
Dr. Hasan Askari explained the methods of voting and dynamics of Pakistan electoral politics. While answering the question from students all of them urged the students to go to polls and vote.
