KEMU Syndicate approves Rs1,163 million budget



LAHORE – The King Edward Medical University (KEMU) Syndicate approved the budget estimates for financial year 2012-13 amounting to Rs1162.509 million in a meeting held on Saturday.
The budget allocation for employee-related expenses is Rs704.187 million; for operating expenses, Rs192.68 million; for scholarships and stipends, Rs60.6 million; for research and surveys, Rs30 million; for physical assets, Rs36.51 million; for employee retirement benefits, Rs21.625 million; for repair and maintenance Rs42.17 million; and for development, Rs74.737 million.
The Syndicate also increased the number of need-based scholarships from 40 to 113, besides enhancing the amount of each Scholarship from Rs2,000 to Rs6,000 per month.
Moreover, the Syndicate approved the test rates of the KEMU Advanced Lab and Diagnostic Centre with 10 per cent rebate for doctors, government / university employees and medical students; and 15 per cent for pensioners and senior citizens.
The Syndicate also approved the teaching posts for the departments of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Cardiac Surgery, Child Psychiatry, Neurology and Pathology.
In addition to this, posts in the Office of Controller of Examinations, library and Quality Enhancement Cell were also approved.
The Syndicate also approved the Version III of the revised handbook of regulations related to admission, registration and examination for PhD and MPhil leading to PhD programme.
