Where are crime-prone areas in Lahore?

LAHORE  - Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed has directed the officers to identify crime prone areas and intensify armed patrolling in these localities to keep a check on criminals under a crime control drive launched in the provincial metropolis.
During the drive, the mobile police squads would patrol in the areas that are considered as crime hotspots to ensure rapid response in case of armed robberies and street crimes happening in Lahore.
Lahore police chief ordered the cops to launch this special drive while presiding over a joint meeting of the Operation and Investigation wings at the Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh on Tuesday. All the concerned police officers were also present on this occasion.
A police spokesman said that the CCPO also reviewed in-detail the overall crimes situation and directed the divisional SPs to step up the campaign against the criminals to downgrade the rising incidents of crimes in the provincial metropolis.
Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed further directed the divisional SPs to move in the field and personally supervise the police patrolling in the crime-prone spots during peak hours. The SPs would ensure regular patrolling by the Mohafiz and tiger squads in these localities.
The divisional SPs are also directed to reach the crime scene in case of any heinous crime happening particularly armed robberies to monitor the performance of the officials of Mohafiz Squad and process of patrolling.
The CCPO also directed DIG (Operations) and all the divisional SPs that the posting period of Mohafiz Squad officials in a police station should not be more than one year. He warned the officers that the concerned SDPO and SP would be held equally responsible in case police of public complaints regarding drugs trade, gambling dens, and brothels in their respective jurisdiction.
The CCPO made it clear that protection of life and property of the people is the foremost responsibility and priority of the police and any negligence in the regard would not be tolerated. He also said that in case the concerned SHO failed to control the crimes he would be sent packing.
The Lahore police chief also directed the officers of the investigation wing to personally probe into the cases of heinous crimes besides ensuring the arrest of proclaimed offenders and most wanted criminals. On this occasion, he warned the cops that each in-charge investigation at police station level is bound to personally supervise the investigation of all important cases.
