Man hangs himself after murdering wife

LAHORE - A 40-year-old man slaughtered his wife and then committed suicide by hanging himself with the ceiling at their house in Mustafabad, police said on Wednesday.
According to initial investigations, the unemployed man, identified as Waseem, took the extreme step over some domestic dispute. His brother, Tanvir, told police that Waseem had been suffering from financial constraints for last several months.
Investigators who reached the crime scene told the media that the body of Yasmeen Bibi was lying in a pool of blood in the bedroom as they reached the spot. In the same bedroom, the man ended his life by hanging himself with the ceiling fan. Edhi ambulance service shifted the dead bodies to the morgue.
Waseem had tied his knot with Yasmeen some eight years ago.
“Waseem frequently used to torture his wife over domestic issues but she never complained to anybody. She always remained scared of her husband,” a close relative of the deceased woman told reporters requesting anonymity.
The couple have left one-and-a-half year old daughter behind to mourn. Waseem, along with his wife and minor daughter, was living in the upper portion while his brother Tanvir was residing in the ground portion of the house.
On Tuesday night, Waseem handed over his daughter to Tanvir’s family and went to the upper portion. On early Wednesday, he exchanged harsh words with his wife and stabbed her repeatedly. The man slit open the throat of his wife before committing suicide, a police investigator said.
Tanvir disclosed the incident to the police shortly after he visited the upper portion and witnessed the bodies. Heavy police contingents including senior officers rushed to the spot following the killings.
The investigators also collected evidences from the crime scene. Further investigation was underway.
CRUSHED: A 24-year-old motorcyclist was crushed to death  by a rashly-driven car near new PU campus underpass on Canal Road in Muslim Town police precincts on early Wednesday.
Factory worker, Ali Murtaza, was on way to his workplace when a recklessly driven vehicle bumped into his two-wheeler near the underpass. As a result, the resident of Multan district died on the spot while the driver along with the car fled the crime scene. The police are investigating.
