LAHORE - The PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that the imposition of carbon tax on petroleum products was a big mistake of the federal government. He was talking to the newsmen here at Mansoora on Saturday. The PML-N Quaid condoled the sad demise of former ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Mian Tufail Muhammad with the sons of the deceased. He offered fateha and prayed that Allah Almighty may rest the departed soul in eternal peace and give courage to the bereaved family. Mian Nawaz Sharif said that the government should have taken into account the miseries of common man caused by the imposition of carbon tax. Referring to the recent decisions on local government system, he said that a dictator introduced the devolution plan for his own motives. He said that a democratic government has every right to bring changes and even abolish the system enforced by a dictator. He said that a democratic government has taken steps in the right direction on the local bodies system. Online adds: he said late Mian Tufail was a great politician and his services would always be remembered. Answering a question, he said, former rulers were responsible for loadshedding. He also criticised the government for allowing former President General Pervez Musharraf to go abroad. The government instead of taking action against former President accorded him guard of honour, he said. Reply to another question, he said the decision of democratic government is always better than a dictator. He said amendments in the local bodies system is a welcome step of government. Replying to a question about PML-Q, he said he only knows Quaid-e-Azam. I have no concern with PML-Q and I have never interfered in Q-League matters, he said. APP adds: he termed the revival of magistracy system in Punjab a decision by a democratic government. Commenting on a question regarding the possible confrontation between the government and judiciary, he was of the view that judiciary better knew its powers. To another question, Nawaz Sharif said that PML-N supports the change in the country in a democratic way and will never back any undemocratic change under any circumstances. Earlier, Nawaz Sharif accompanied by PML-N leader Dr Asif Karmani reached the residene of Mian Tufail where he met JI leaders Ch Aslam Saleemi, Malik Muhammad Ashraf, Mohsin Farooq and Hassan Farooq both the sons of Mian Tufail.
