LHC starts annual inspection of district courts

LAHORE – To improve the working of district judiciary, the Lahore High Court has started annual inspection of lower courts across the province, whereby inspection judges nominated by the LHC will inspect their assigned districts.
According to the mechanism devised for this purpose, inspection of major cities would be carried out first and then this exercise would be extended to smaller ones, a handout issued on Wednesday said. It added the end in view was to accelerate the dispensation of justice and not mere punishment.
Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan inspected Multan District Courts on July 7; while Justice Sagheer Ahmad Qadri will inspect Lahore District Courts from July 16 to 18. The Lahore district and sessions judge has been asked to make the necessary arrangements in this regard.
The inspection judge will inspect record of decided cases, review the performance of judicial officers and observe court proceedings. The inspection judge will also inspect copying agency, record room, Bakshi Khana and jail.
