Security put on high alert

LAHORE - The Punjab Police has enforced the security plan for the lawyer's long march by deploying more than 5,000 police cops specially at all sensitive areas as well as main routes Rangers will be at stand-by position to reinforce police force in case of their need if required. All DSPs and SHOs have been assigned separate areas to supervise the police deployment. Walk-through gates have been installed at main route of the long march. Police copes in plain clothes have also been deployed. They will check the suspected participants of the long march. They have also been provided with the metal detectors. Security cover has also been beefed up around the sensitive areas including government buildings - CM house, Governor House, LHC, State Bank of Pakistan, private and public banks, GPO and others. Police have also enhanced the special security around bus terminals, railway station and sirport. On strict instructions of CCPO Pervez Rathore, special deployment has been made there at all entry and exit points of the city. Patrolling has also been increased in different localities. Elite Police, Muhafiz Police and Janbaz Police have started patrolling round the clock All bigger and small hotels as well as guest houses have been provided with extra security. Police authorities have directed hotel and guest houses' administration to maintain the data regarding customers and guests. They said that only those should be given stay in the hotels and guestrooms who would provide their new National Identity Card. Authorities warned them of strict action if instructions are not followed in true letter and spirit. SPs will also supervise their own designated areas to ensure smooth sailing of security plan. CCPO Pervez Rathore visited different areas to check foolproof security arrangements and said that the police had taken all possible measures to avoid any untoward incident.
