Shahbaz pledges Ramazan relief

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that a special package has been given for providing relief to the people in Ramazan and strict action will be taken against the profiteers and hoarders during the holy month.
Issuing instructions to provincial price control committee and administration on Thursday, the chief minister directed that in view of arrival of Ramazan, effective measures should be adopted for the provision of quality essential items, fruits and vegetables to the citizens.
He said that to provide quality flour to the masses at concessionary rate in Ramazan Bazaars, a subsidy of Rs 3.5 billion has been announced. He said that the benefit of Ramazan Package should reach the people in the real sense and no laxity would be tolerated in this regard.
He said that he would personally supervise the measures adopted under Ramazan Package to provide relief to the citizens. He said that all concerned departments and institutions should work actively for providing relief to the people.
Shahbaz Sharif directed that vigorous action should be taken against the elements involved in hoarding and profiteering.
He said that interest of the people is of utmost importance and he will not allow anyone to exploit the citizens in the form of profiteering. He directed that district price control committees set up in the province should keep a watchful eye on the prices and quality of essential commodities.
