The young people aged between 18 to 30 years are the main contributor in road crashes reason being disobedience of traffic rules and road safety principles.
These views were expressed by National Highways & Motorway Police Inspector General Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema while addressing the teachers and students of Mehran University.
Zulfiqar Cheema said that National Highways & Motorway Police have always maintained the standard of road safety in Pakistan which is also acknowledged worldwide. He said that he is committed to create the supremacy and enforcement of law on Motorways and highways.
The United Nations and Asian development declared the Motorway Police as a model institution while Transparency International and NAB declared the only corruption free department in Pakistan. He said NH&MP is known not only in Pakistan but all over the world as courteous, honest, and helping force.
People from all segment of society appreciate its honesty.
The IGP added that Indian people highly admired the enforcement of Motorway Police in his recent visit of India. Road Safety helmets were also distributed among the university students who ride motorcycles.
Murad Ali Shah, Finance Minister of Sindh, lauded the performance of Motorway Police. However, other speakers include Dr Jan Muhammad (Prof of Liaquat Medical University), Zahoor Ahmed (Deputy Attorney General), Turab Ali (Vice President of Chamber of Commerce, Hyderabad), Madam Nasra Iqbal (Principal Nusrat College) said that road safety is an important issue and commuters must obey traffic rules.
