LAHORE- Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that PTI chairman Imran Khan has shown undemocratic conducted by rejecting the government’s offer of holding probe into the 2013 elections through a Supreme Court commission.Reacting to the Imran’s stance on the Supreme Court commission, the CM said it was deplorable that the PTI chief did not show a democratic attitude but raised an undemocratic demand of the prime minister’s resignation which was not acceptable. He said that Imran’s conduct has left many questions. He said the prime minister in his address to the nation presented actual situation and maintained that no one would be allowed to invade the democracy. Shahbaz said that the masses have given mandate to the PML-N. “We’ll honour the public mandate at any cost and no one will be allowed to hijack it,” he added.Earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq met Shahbaz Sharif at Model Town on Tuesday and both the leaders discussed the overall political situation of the country. JI leader Liaqat Baloch was also present on the occasion. On the occasion, the CM said that the government wanted to resolve all issues through negotiations and mutual understanding. He said that the Jamaat-e-Islami is making commendable efforts for the supremacy of the constitution and stability of democracy. He said that every effort of the Jamaat-e-Islami towards conciliation and understanding will be welcomed and its proposals implemented. Shahbaz said that he is ready to go to anyone for peace and the country’s democratic system. He said that the use of force is not the option of the government and it is ready to show flexibility in the country’s larger interest. Sirajul Haq said his party wanted that the situation should not worsen and an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity should prevail in the country. He said the JI would continue its efforts in the larger interest of the nation. The JI head is playing a role to defuse the tension between the government and PTI erupted due the Azadi March.Later talking to media, Sirajul Haq said he is continuing the efforts to settle the matter through talks, and expressed the hope for a positive outcome. He said he strongly wants no bloodshed on the roads due to current crisis. He said that he was in contact with all parties and wanted everyone to hold the national interest supreme instead of party or individual ones. He said he would try to bring all the stakeholders to one common point whereof the country remains peaceful and democratic system goes on. AGITATION POLITICS PUSHING COUNTRY INTO DARKNESS: SHAHBAZPunjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said the untimely long march and so-called revolution are aimed at pushing the country into the darkness of extremism, poverty and unemployment. He said the elements leading a luxurious life in Canada and London have no interest in solving problems of the Pakistani people who have totally rejected these elements during the 2013 general elections. He said that in a democratic setup, issues are resolved through dialogue and mutual understanding and not in the streets. He said the nation and history would never forgive those involved in confrontation in the present critical situation. He said the elements involved in negative politics wanted to create lawlessness and anarchy through dividing the nation but they, he added, would never succeed in their evil designs. Talking to various delegations of the PML-N here on Tuesday, the CM said that the elements engaged in the politics of protest under a conspiracy wanted to create anarchy in the country and destroy economy through the so-called revolution and long march. He said that a person who tells lies under the oath of Holy Quran is a blot on revolution and his aim is only to create lawlessness and anarchy in the country through threats of violence. Shahbaz said the politics of chaos is causing economic loss to the country. He further said that PTI chairman Imran Khan is relying on long march to hide the failures and poor performance of his party’s government in KP. He questioned what the PTI could bring change in the country if it has failed to bring any change in KP. He advised Imran to give up the politics of long march and improve the performance of the KP government. He said survival of the country depends upon a strong democratic system and the PML-N government has rendered innumerable sacrifices for the promotion of democracy, strengthening of democratic system and supremacy of law and constitution due to which genuine democracy has been restored in the country. The CM said the PML-N has been given heavy mandate by the nation and it would live up to the expectations of the masses, and the country would be brought out of quagmire of problems and put on the road to progress and prosperity. He said the Pakistani nation is united and has complete confidence in the existing democratic system. He expressed the confidence that Pakistan would achieve the goal of progress and prosperity under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and every conspiracy against democratic system would be foiled.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
