LAHORE - PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that present government's bow before international pressure is the continuation of "legacy of surrender" initiated by Musharraf's government. He criticised the PPP-led government for actuating on the dictations of foreign countries. He said government's attitude made Pakistan a laughing stock of the world. "Though time demanded that government should have taken substantial steps to cope with the situation when India is threatening Pakistan and International community is labelling Pakistan as terrorist country. But, ridiculously, big talks were made claiming that government is capable of giving tit for tat," he said. He was of a view that big talks would not work rather it was high time to take tangible measures to deal with the precarious situation in accordance with the wishes of people. He said this while talking to party leaders and workers at his residence in Raiwind here on Friday. CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Pir Sabir Shah, Saranjam Khan, Zafar Iqbal Jhagra, Khawja Saad Rafiq, Ahsan Iqbal, Pervez Rashid were present on the occasion. 40-member delegation of lawyers also called on him. Nawaz said, "during the tenure of his government, then US president Bill Clinton made numerous calls to stop Pakistan reciprocating Indian nuclear bomb blasts. But we detonated seven nuclear blasts in a row as per aspirations of people, he maintained. "Following the answer in same coins, Indian tone was entirely changed. Then Indian prime minister Atal Behari Wajpai not only visited Pakistan but also spelled out those words which helped the world to recognise the strength of Pakistan." However, he said contrary to this, former President Pervez Musharraf accepted all demands on one phone call of US official. With succumbing to the pressure against foreign dictation, present government had proved that it was the continuation of legacy of Musharraf. He said Pakistan was passing through critical time and it demanded the nation to get united to fight against the conspiracies. He said people had really been disappointed over the performance of government adding nation was betrayed due to retaining PCO judges including Abdul Hameed Dogar. After emergence of the scandal of additional numbers provided to daughter of Abdul Hameed Dogar illegally, latter had no option but to step down, he added. He said that if Abdul Hameed Dogar did not resign, nation particularly the legal fraternity should take notice of the issue.
