Kashmiri's death anniversary goes unnoticed

LAHORE The 3rd death anniversary of renowned film actor Ilyas Kashmiri went by unnoticed, as no major ceremony was organised in the cultural hub of Lahore on Sunday. Kashmiri did more than 600 films in his over 50 years career. He was born in Lahore in 1925. He started his career with the role of hero in 'Malika from Bombay but some showbiz critiques said his first film was 'Abida which was produced by Hind Pictures. He did his first Punjabi film 'Mundri in 1949. In his long showbiz career Kashmiri appeared as hero, comedian, side hero but he earned fame as villain. He worked with many outstanding including Santosh Kumar, Mazhar Shah, Sultan Rahi, Anjuman, Munawar Zareef, Rangeela and others. Anjaam, Shuhrat, Sardar tey Murad, Mukhra Chan Warga, Hath Jori, Ustad Shagird, Ishq Par Zor Nahe, Hatim, Yakey Wali and Laila Majnoon, Mahi Munda, Paidagir, Banarsi Thagg, Gama BA are among his famous films.
