Pakistani youth second to none, says Mujtaba

LAHORE - Punjab Education Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said we can make Pakistan a great country by exploiting the capabilities of our youth. He was addressing the first sitting of second day of Nazria Pakistan Conference at Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan on Friday. Chairman NPT and Editor-in-Chief The Nation Majid Nizami presided over the sitting. Shuja-ur-Rehman said creating awareness about the Two-Nation Theory was a great task being performed by Majid Nizami. He said Pakistani youth is second to none and we can build a great nation by using their talent. He said we had so far no direction because of which we deviated from our goal. He said the Punjab government was doing everything for the promotion of education including the educational emergency for increase in the enrolment in which almost a million children were enrolled in the schools. He said the students holding positions in Matric were given tens of thousands of rupees as prizes. Similarly teachers were also awarded with prizes. The value of Punjab Endowment Fund will now be increased to Rs 10 billion and adequate funds would be provided to students. He said the Punjab government had also set up computer laboratories through which 3.4 million children will be imparted IT education. He said 40,000 new teachers had been recruited. Similarly 1,90,000 contractual teachers had been regularised. He said Danish School was initiated for quality education to the poor children. He said the government had given proposal to raise 7 per cent of the GDP for education in budget. Secretary Primary Education Mohammad Aslam Komboh said the Quaid in his will handed over his property to Muslim Ali Garh University, Islamia College Peshawar and Madrissa-tul-Islam Sindh. When the word 'Muslim was removed from Aligarh University by India, the Quaid withdrew his decision to fund the Aligarh University. He said Britain made progress due to 30 genius persons and majority of them were teachers. President Nazria Pakistan Forum Karachi Mian Abdul Hameed said we could not progress without professional education. He also pleaded for better remuneration to teachers. Women Wing convener of NPT Begum Mehnaz Rafi said the country cannot progress without education, particularly of women education. She said there was separate wing for women education in Aligarh College. The Quaid also stressed for women education and encouraged them to proceed forward in the political field. She said after the Russian revolution, women educational institutions were set up in abundance. She said Islam stressed on women education. Pakistani women are progressive and they can become better citizens and professionals. The women education can also alleviate poverty and hunger from the society. She urged for equal opportunities to women for progress. Majid Nizami awarded shields to Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Mohammad Aslam Kamboh, A Majid and Tariq Saood.
