Drug peddlers busted

LAHORE - Lahore Excise Directorate (Region-A), in a crackdown against drug peddlers, arrested six accused and recovered 100 liters locally and illegally manufactured liquor  and more than 1.5 Kg heroin and heavy number of tranquilizer injections from their possession, an officer of Punjab Excise and Taxation (E&T) department said on Thursday.
Excise and Taxation Director General Aziz Tarar received secret information that drug peddlers were active in the different parts of the city. On which, a team was constituted headed by Excise ETO Latif Anjum to nab the accused. The team conducted raids in various parts of the city and arrested six accused including Sunny, Samuel, Shamshad Ali, Ashfaq Akbar and Sharoon Masih. The team also recovered 100 liter substandard liquor, good number of injections supposed to be used by addicts and 1.5 Kg heroin from their possession.
An E&T officer said that more than 400 bottles could be prepared from 100 liters liquor. Five cases have been registered against accused with different police stations of the city including Nishtar Colony, Sabzazar and Defence Housing Authority. The ETO said that campaign against drug peddlers would continue and action would be taken against the accused irrespective of their rank or status.
