LAHORE - The PML-Q Thursday formally announced supporting the PPP in Punjab for Senate elections after party chief Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain decided not to run for the Upper House polls.
PML-Q Punjab General Secretary Chaudhary Zaheeruddin formally announced support for PPP on behalf of his party in the Senate elections while addressing a press conference with PPP central Punjab president Mian Manzoor Wattoo at Muslim League House on Thursday.
Following the PML-Q announcement, Nadeem Afzal Chan will be the PML-Q-PPP candidate on general seat, Sarwat Khalid Malik on women seat and Malik Nausher Khan Anjum Langrial on technocrat seat.
PPP leader expressed his party’s gratitude to the PML-Q leadership including Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi for their support and said that he had earlier met with Shujaat Hussain and requested him to move together.
He also thanked PML-Q MPAs and said that after the elections, PML-Q and PPP seats in the Senate would be more than that of PML-N.
Prominent among PML-Q and PPP leaders on this occasion were Aamir Sultan Cheema, Sardar Vickas Hassan Moakal, Peer Ahmad Shah Khagga, Qazi Saeed, Khurrum Jahangir Wattoo and Major (retd) Zulfiqar Gondal.
