Dr Naz laid to rest

LAHORE - The funeral prayer of former director Institute of Communication Studies and former Public Relations Officer of Punjab University Dr Ahsan Akhtar Naz was offered at New Campus jogging track.
PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, senior teachers of journalism including Dr Mehdi Hasan, Dr Shafiq Jullandhry, Dr Mujahid Mansoori, senior journalists including Mujeebur Rehman Shami, Salman Ghani, Ataur Rehman, Orya Maqbool Jan, Sajjad Mir, Najam Wali Khan, Naveed Chaudhry, Ajmal Jami, renowned social and political personalities including Raja Munawar, Chaudhry Akram, Ejaz Chaudhry, Liaqat Baloch, Farid Paracha, Ameer ul Azeem, public relations officers of various institutions, office-bearers of various journalist organizations, faculty members of ICS and thousands of students of Dr Ahsan Akhtar Naz participated in the prayers. Liaqat Baloch led the prayer.
In his condolence message, Dr Mujahid Kamran said that the Dr Ahsan Akhtar Naz’s services in the field of journalism would be remembered. He said that his students were working in all the media organizations. He said that the participation of thousands of people in his funeral prayer was a proof their association with him.
Later, Dr Naz was buried in the university graveyard. Quran Khawani will be held on Saturday at 3:30pm at New Campus Colony’s mosque situated in E Block.
Meanwhile, Punjab University Institute of Communication Studies in-charge director Dr Noshina Saleem, all faculty, employees and students have expressed their heartfelt grief and sorrow over the sad demise of former director Dr Naz.
In mourning ICS remained closed on Friday and all faculty, employees members and employees and a large number of students participated in the funeral and burial of late Dr Naz, who served the institute for around 26 years.
The Quran Khawnai for the rest of the departed soul would be held today at 3:30 and jamia mosque E-block near his residence.
IBA sports gala concludes: Punjab University Institute of Business Administration’s annual sports gala has concluded here on Friday. Principal University Law College Dr Shazia Qureshi, Incharge IBA Sajida Nisar, Principal Hailey College of Banking and Finance Prof Dr Mobbasshar Munawar Khan, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion. The competitions of cricket, badminton, table tennis, carom, race, football, tug-of-war and other sports were held in which students of the institute participated. Incharge IBA Dr Sajida Nisar congratulated event organizers and said that such activities promoted positive thinking, sportsman spirit and discipline among students. Later, chief guest Dr Shazia Qureshi distributed prizes among the winners of the competition.
PU declares results: Punjab University Examinations Department has declared the results of B.Com Part-II second annual examination 2015 and MBBS 1st Professional Part-I annual examination 2015. Detailed results are also available at PU website www.pu.edu.pk.


GRE test preparation workshop at UVAS

The Centre for Education Policy and Administration (CEPA) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) organised GRE/Fulbright Test Preparation Workshop for students and faculty members here on Friday.
Vice-Chancellor Prof DrTalatNaseer Pasha chaired the inaugural session of the workshop while CEPA President Prof DrNasim Ahmad was also present. USEFP Principal Adviser Test Preparation ZeeshanRahatQureshi was the resource person and conducted the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor asked the students and faculty to prepare for the GRE test and then plan for applying for Fulbright Scholarships for their PhD studies in the United States. He said that GRE is the key to availing Fulbright Scholarship and the US is the best place in world for the PhD studies. Prof DrNasim Ahmad spoke about the workshop objectives. Mr Zeeshan Rahat Qureshi spoke about various sections of the GRE test, various techniques of preparing and taking the test.
