NPT contributes Rs1m for IDPs

LAHORE - The Punjab Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, set up for the financial assistance of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan, received cheques for Rs27 million.
Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust (NPT) Secretary Shahid Rasheed presented a cheque of Rs1million to CM Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday, on behalf of NPT Chairman and The Nation Editor-in-Chief Dr Majid Nizami and Pakistan Movement workers.
Dr Majid Nizami has expressed his solidarity with the displaced people of North Waziristan Agency and reiterated that the people of Punjab would render all possible assistance for the well being of IDPs. A IDPs Relief Fund has also been set up at NPT on the direction of its chairman.
The chief minister thanked Dr Majid Nizami for his support and the trust on the armed forces engaged in the operation Zarb-e-Azb.
Personalities from various walks of life also met the CM and donated the cheques for brothers and sisters from North Waziristan, displaced in the war against terrorism.
Renowned industrialist Mian Abdul Rehman, Mian Talat Mehmood, Ahmed Faazil gave cheques for Rs25m in the Relief Fund. Businessman Mian Ijaz gave a cheque for Rs1m.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister appreciated the spirit of those helping their displaced brothers and sisters. He appealed to the well-to-do people and philanthropists to donate generously for the relief of IDPs. He said that the government and people of Punjab would not leave the IDPs alone in such a difficult time.
In a similar development, a fundraiser was held in the Alhamara Arts Council for the IDPs under the chairmanship PML-N’s Hamza Shahbaz Sharif. Heads of public sector and private sector organisation presented cheques in the ceremony. Punjab Text Book Board Chairman Nawazish Ali presented a cheque of Rs30m.
