LAHORE - Following a threatening letter to Justice Ali Baqar Najfi, additional deployment of security personnel was witnessed at the Lahore High Court here on Saturday. An official said that Justice Najfi had received a letter in which the names of the justice and his family members had been clearly mentioned. However, the letter lacked its sender’s name. The sender had given Justice Najfi threats of serious consequences, the official added. He, however, said there was no reference to the Model Town incident in the letter. After serious threats, additional deployment of police personnel was observed in the high court, especially at entrance and exit points in and outside of the court. A squad of Elite Force had also been deployed for the security of Justice Najfi. A few days back, Justice Anwarul Haq of the LHC also mentioned the security threats being given to the judges and observed that police were also aware of these threats. Lahore High Court Bar Association President Shafqat Chohan was also present in the court. Shafqat Chohan expressed serious concerns over the threats being hurled to the judges of the LHC and demanded the government provide foolproof security to judges and their families. The bar was determined that it would not tolerate any kind of negligence in this regard, he added. This news was published in The Nation newspaper. Read complete newspaper of 13-Jul-2014 here.
