LAHORE - Lahore Operations police on Thursday claimed to have smashed a gang of robbers by arresting its two members involved in dozens of armed robberies, which they committed in different parts of Lahore. “We have recovered 16 motorcycles and two pistols from their possession. During preliminary investigations, the bandits have confessed to 26 robberies,” Superintendent of Police (Sadar Division) Malik Muhammad Awais told reporters while addressing a news conference at his office. He said that the Lahore DIG (Operations) Rana Abdul Jabbar took serious notice of the sudden rise in street crimes and directed the police to track down the criminals. A special police team headed by SHO Township Syed Muhammad Sibtain collected the particulars of the gang and arrested its two members. The arrested bandits were identified as Shaukat alias Shouki Shah and Muhammad Iqbal. According to Malik Awais, the bandits had a history of crimes and they were wanted to the police in several cases of road robberies.
