LAHORE - The Punjab government has allocated Rs40 billion in the provincial budget 2015-16 to introduce ‘Safe City Programme’, budget document said.
As per documents the programme would be started from the provincial capital and then extended to Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan and Gujranwala. Under this programme latest devices and CCTV cameras would be purchased and installed on important roads and installations to keep vigilant eye on anti state elements. The system would help to arrest the accused within no time.
The project would be completed in Lahore by December this year while in the other cities its completion would be during 2016. Among the other such projects which would support law and order situation included establishment of 80 police Centers across the province.
Another proposal of an amount of Rs94.760b was also being floated it would be spent on the training of police staff, purchase of latest weapons and capacity building of police, this budget would be apart from other routine budget.
For the provision of speedy and inexpensive justice to the masses, first time in the history of Pakistan, the Punjab government has generated 317 vacancies of Additional District & Session Judges and 696 posts of Civil Judges. Rs18.11b were allocated for different courts of the province.
To provide inexpensive and respectable journey to the masses Punjab government has introduced Metro Bus Transport Culture. Next Metro project has been started in Multan and in the provincial capital a 27 kilo meters long first Metro Train (Orange Line) project about to start.
