Shahbaz orders rushing work on Metro Bus ‘gift’


LAHORE – Issuing directives to complete the Metro Bus Project in time, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that he wants to gift the service to the masses as soon as possible.
“No compromise will be made on the deadline,” the chief minister said while presiding over a meeting held to review the pace of construction work on Metro Bus Project at Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Monday.
Shahbaz said 11 recreational points would be set up on the route of Metro Bus Service and issued instructions to provide complete security around these spots. He stressed the need for stepping up work on the construction of special depot for metro buses.
He said the government was aware of the problems comforting the citizens due to the construction work and expressed his gratitude to the people for bearing inconvenience. He directed the traffic police to evolve better planning for maintaining the flow of traffic on BRT route. He directed that minor work on the project should be completed at the earliest. Taking notice of the incomplete work by the contractors on the some sections, he directed that more labour and machinery should be employed and the work should be completed within the stipulated time as there was no room for delay in the completion of the project.
The chief minster directed the Planning and Development chairman to conduct the case study of the project and submitted a report He also issued instructions for clearing the route and installation of lights on the occasion of Youm-e-Aashur and the Urs of Data Ganj Bakhsh Ali Hajveri and said that the route should be clear for the devotees. Shahbaz also met the contractors working on various sections of Metro Bus Project and issued instructions to them. He directed the contractors to complete their work within the timeframe ensuring the highest standard of construction.
Lahore Transport Company Chairman Khawaja Ahmed Hasaan, MPA Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmed, Planning and Development chairman, BRT project director, Lahore commissioner, district coordination officer, LDA director general and other officials attended the meeting.
solar Energy:  Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the Punjab government and a German company have agreed to launch solar project in the province.
Talking to a delegation of German solar energy companies at Chief Minister’s Secretariat, the chief minister said his recent visit to Germany had been bearing the fruit since the German solar companies were showing interest in investment in Punjab.
