LAHORE - The Lahore High Court Wednesday directed the federal government once again to submit report about the expenses of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif‘s visit to New York, warning that the heavy fine would be imposed if the government failed to submit reply on next hearing.
Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah of the LHC was hearing the case. As the proceedings commenced, neither the expenses details on foreign visits of the PM were submitted nor did any official appear in the court on behalf of the foreign ministry.
A law officer who was representing the federal government told the judge that the protocol officer of the PM did not submit any detail. On it, Justice Shah asked him if the entire system of the country was being run by the protocol officers and no other department had knowledge of the expenses incurred on the visit of PM to New York. The judge warned him to submit reply otherwise; heavy fine would be imposed on the government.
In previous hearing, the judge had directed the government to apprise the court of the law that laid down a restriction on the expenditures of public representatives on foreign visits. But the law officer also failed to assist the court on it.  
Barrister Javed Iqbal Jafree had filed the petition challenging PM, his family members and servants’ stay at expensive hotels, personal business development deals with foreign countries, public money he sent abroad, the title of ‘Sir’ Nawaz Sharif was enjoying.
He alleged that the PM stayed at a hotel that cost Rs800, 000 for one night during his recent visit to New York.
The petitioner prayed the court for mental examination of Prime Minister Nawaz as he many times took a bad image to the country by taking local food items with him to present heads of other states.
The petitioner requested the court to put the name of Nawaz Sharif and his family names on Exit Control List and stop them from misusing the public money. The court will resume the hearing on Nov 19.
