LAHORE - Plains of the country including Lahore remained in the grip of muggy weather on Sunday, causing people to sweat during the day.
Under the influence of a westerly wave, upper parts of the country are likely to receive scattered rains during the next couple of days. The rains are likely to decrease maximum and minimum temperature by 02-04 degree Celsius in upper parts of the country from coming Wednesday. Lasbela and Turbat remained hottest places in the country where mercury rose as high as 42 C. Maximum temperature in Karachi, Shaheed Benazir Abad and Mithi was recorded 41 C. In Lahore, maximum and minimum temperature was recorded 35 C and 19 C respectively. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded 31 per cent.
According to the experts, continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. A westerly trough is likely to affect upper parts of the country from Monday till Wednesday
The local meteorological department has forecast mainly hot and dry weather for most parts of the country including Lahore during the next couple of days. However, rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected at isolated places in Khyber Pakhtoonkwa, Rawalpindi and Sargodha divisions, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
