Five killed in separate incidents

LAHORE Five persons including two women were killed in separate incidents in the provincial capital on Wednesday. In the first incident, a security guard was shot dead when he offered resistance during a dacoity bid on Brandrath Road in Naulakha police limits. The deceased was identified as a 48-year-old Abdul Rehman. According to the accounts of a few eyewitnesses, dacoits broke into a hardware shop located in Al-Hadeed Bazaar and collected cash worth over Rs 0.5 million and five mobile phones. They were fleeing from the crime scene when the security guard tried to overpower them but in retaliation they sprayed indiscriminate fires on him resultantly he suffered multiple injuries, they added. Meanwhile, an Edhi ambulance reached the spot and rushed the injured to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. In the second incident, a 38-year-old petitioner who had suffered multiple bullet injuries outskirts of the Session Court on Tuesday and was admitted in a nearby hospital succumbed to his wounds. Deceased Iftikhar Hussain, resident of Sharaqpur was shot dead by the accused namely Shahzad and Ameen. He arrived in the court in order to pursue his case on Tuesday but the killers closed the chapter of his life, police investigators said. According to them, the body has been removed to the morgue. Police have also registered a murder case against four accused on the statement of Musarat Bibi, sister of the deceased. While in the third incident, a 55-year-old woman was crushed to death by a speeding vehicle in Hanjerwal police area. The police said the deceased later identified as Bushran Bibi who, along with his other family members, was crossing a road when an uncontrolled car hit her, leaving in pool of blood on the spot. She was shifted to hospital where she breathed her last. In the fourth incident, a 25-year-old poverty-stricken youth allegedly committed suicide after jumping in front of a train in Kot Lakhpat police area in the wee hours. Deceased Mohammad Hussain was unemployed from the last several days and was failed to make both ends meet. According to collected evidences, the youth jumped in front of the train, which tore him into pieces, an on duty police officer says. However, s 45-year-old woman fell prey to another quack as she died after the so-called medics allegedly administered her wrong injection in Sabzazaar police limits. The woman was identified as Jannat Bibi, resident of Kharak Nullah Stop. Police sources say, The woman was admitted at a private clinic of one Abdul Qadoos, who administered her wrong injection, which caused her immediate death. After she became unconscious the quack advised the family to shift her to any civil hospital. The family also rushed her to the Jinnah Hospital where the doctors pronounced the woman had already died before they provide her medical treatment. No case was registered till filing of this report. Further investigations are underway.
