LAHORE - PAT Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri has greeted the party workers and nation on the Independence Day, saying Pakistan came into being after great efforts and sacrifices.
“It is a day when we renew our pledge not to forget the sacrifices rendered by 14 martyrs of Model Town,” the PAT chief said in his message.
Pakistan was created with a vision that the poor citizens would live in peace and tranquility without any distinction of creed, class and colour, Dr Qadri said. But unfortunately, he regretted, a handful of billionaires have taken over the control of the country. He said PAT would continue the struggle for realising the true spirit of Quaid’s Pakistan. He resolved the PAT workers and its leadership would not hesitate in rendering more sacrifices for the rights of masses.
On 17 June 2014, 14 PAT protesters were killed in a clash with police outside the Minhajul Quran secretariat in Model Town. The standoff lasted for almost 11 hours when the police and anti-encroachment squad launched an operation to remove the barriers from the road leading to the residence of Qadri.
