Role of expats highlighted

LAHORE: Around 75 million Pakistanis are living in 124 countries of the world and contributing more than 18 billion dollars to national economy but are still deprived from proper attention, said the Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis, Hafiz Ahsan Ahmad Khokhar.
Briefing the media at Lahore airport on Thursday, Mr Ahsan highlighted the efforts and contribution of overseas Pakistanis.
He said that Federal Ombudsman Salman Faruqui has taken special initiatives for Overseas Pakistanis and established Grievance Commissioner Cell in this regard with the objectives to resolve their individual and collective problems.
“Work has been started with all relevant agencies to start e-gate immigration at all international airports of Pakistan and it will be started soon,” he added. Several other initiatives have been taken including development of independent overseas complaints website which is connected with most relevant agencies, he told the media. He said that verification of online documents mechanism by different agencies is under process with the help of MIO IT, Foreign Office, NADRA, Passport and Immigration department.–AMRAIZ KHAN
Moreover, One Window Facilitation Desks have been established at Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi airports which are represented by twelve stakeholders.
Others who attended the briefing included officials from Lahore Airport, Airports Security Force (ASF), Anti Narcotics Force, Pakistan International Airline, Federal Investigation Agency.
