The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has demanded that local bodies (LB) elections be held under the supervision of the judiciary.
Imran Khan while addressing a news conference was critical of the Punjab government, stating that it was scared of conducting free and fair elections. According to Imran Khan, the PTI would introduce the biometric system for LB elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Terming the voter fraud during the general elections as robbery, Imran Khan called for a detailed investigation in four constituencies with finger print verification. The PTI chairman said the government had admitted that there were 60-70 unverified votes in each constituency. Imran Khan announced that he would approach the Supreme Court on Monday for fingerprint verification in the four constituencies.
Commenting on the increasing cost of living in Pakistan, Imran Khan said the PTI would hold a protest rally against inflation on December 22.
Earlier, addressing the convocation ceremony of NUML University, Imran Khan said that the US threat of stopping assistance to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government over blockage of Nato supply is shameful for the nation.
Imran Khan said that it was not a big thing for the US and PML-N government that innocent people including children and women were killed in US drone attacks but they were raising hue and cry over the blockage of Nato supply.
He said the US threatened the government that it would stop assistance to Pakistan if Nato supply was not restored, adding that some capitalists have made the whole country hostage.
The PTI chief said that living standard of the common man could not be improved without elimination of capitalist system from the county, adding that the rulers and politicians stashed their money in foreign banks. He said those whose money is stashed in foreign banks are happy with the raising value of dollar because it will further increase their foreign money, while the common man is facing the storm of inflation.
He said that change in the country could be brought only from education and vast thinking.
