GCU arranges contest among students



LAHORE  – The Government College University (GCU) ensures participation of its students in extra-curricular activities which are essential for character-building, Vice Chancellor Dr Khaleeq-ur-Rahman said, while addressing the prize distribution ceremony.
The All Pakistan Dry Flower and Poster competition was organized by GCU Horticulture Society on the theme of “Education, Development and Employment” at Abdus Salam Hall.
GCU Director Research Dr Zakria Butt and Horticulture Society Advisor Dr Zaheer-ud-Din was also present. As many as 26 teams from 12 educational intuitions including King Edward Medical University, Lahore College for Women University, Apwa College and Kinnaird College, participated in the dry flower and poster competitions.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor said that education which failed in character building was useless.
He said that the GCU academic calendar was designed with the purpose of balancing out academic pursuits, sports and co-curricular activities.
Later, Prof Rahman gave away certificates and shields to Shayan Khan, Sana Qayyum, Memoona Tauqeer, Maryam Sabir, Sumaira Munir, Iqra Maqbool, Kamal Jamil, Anum John, Afaq Sadaat, Naila Raiz, Sumiya Amjad, Tambil Ghafoor and Hadia Zafar for securing distinctions in the various categories of All Pakistan Dry Flower and Poster Competition.
