Massive irregularities took place under Ashraf, says Butt

LAHORE - Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board has stated before the Senate's standing committee for sports that huge financial irregularities took place during the tenure of Nasim Ashraf and he is investigating them. In the meeting of the Senate's standing committee for sports, Ijaz Butt said that the financial position of the cricket board is really poor and if immediate steps were not taken then its budget would exhaust within six months. He said when Dr Nasim Ashraf took over the charge of the PCB then its budget was of Rs3.37 billion and now when he has taken over the charge, the budget has come down to Rs1.53 billion and currently it is Rs1.51 billion. He further said that huge financial irregularities took place during the tenure of Nasim Ashraf and this is why he did not accept the resignation of the chief financial officer, who has been asked to present the accounts of the board. On this occasion, members of the Senate's standing committee asked the board to present the details of the PCB accounts and also to call former chairman PCB Nasim Ashraf at the next meeting of the committee. The next meeting of the Senate's standing committee for sports has been called on February 9.
