LAHORE - Provincial Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said that the future of our new generation is safe and morale high. He was talking to students during his visit to Lahore Grammar School (LGS), Johar Town, International School of Choueifat, Govt Boys High School Kot Lakhpat, Govt Model Girls High School Township, Lahore College of Arts and Sciences (LCAS) and Govt Degree College for Women Gulberg. Director Colleges Lahore Division Rana Naseem Akhtar also accompanied the minister.
Mashhood appreciated 9th class student of Government School Kot Lakhpat who said that they would continue their education taking it as their part in the war country is fighting against terrorists. The minister appealed that the media should also play its role for creating an atmosphere of peace.
He also lamented that some profiteers were selling barbed wires and other security equipments at higher price. He added that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had taken strict notice of the situation and instructions had already been issued to all the Divisional Commissioners to take action against the elements involved in black marketing.
He said that security arrangements had been completed in all the educational institutions of A+ and A category according to the SOPs while patrolling had been made more effective through quick response force for the provision of security to B, C and D category schools.
In this regard, Provincial Minister for Cooperative Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar paid surprise visit to various schools and colleges of Lahore for monitoring security arrangements according to checklist.
Provincial Minister for Agriculture Dr Farrukh Javed also visited various schools including Govt Islamia High School, Divisional Model School and Convent schools in Gojra and Toba Tek Singh. He directed the administration to provide training to the students for meeting any emergent situation.
During a briefing, Toba Tek Singh DCO Waqas Alam informed the Agriculture minister that the boundary walls of 923 schools out of 1208 schools had been completed while boundary walls of remaining schools were being constructed. He said that metal detectors had been provided to 818 schools while 390 metal detectors would soon be provided. He told that 3-day training of rescue and civil defence had been imparted to 705 teachers.
Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Begum Zakia Shahnawaz visited various educational institutions of Mianwali and Sargodha to review security arrangements.
Directives: Lahore DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf has said that the police would have to put into practice the national action plan forcefully because the war on terrorism could not be won without effectively implementing the initiative. He also told the field officers that the police would have to launch a grand operation in Lahore to root out militancy and extremism from the society.
“We must be united to defeat militancy and to thwart the nefarious designs of the anti-state elements,” the operations police chief stated this while presiding over a meeting held to review the implementation of national action plan. SP Headquarters, SP Mobiles and all the divisional SPs also participated in the meeting held at the Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh on Tuesday.


The police were also ordered to observe zero-tolerance against the misuse of loudspeaker, wall-chalking, and other provocative material. The DIG also asked the field officers to seize the loudspeaker, arrest the cleric, and also register a criminal case against the administration of mosques and seminaries, in case they are violating the ban on the loudspeaker. Similarly, police would continue search and security sweeps against the suspected persons on daily basis in Lahore. Police are strictly directed to register cases under Foreigners Act against Afghan national staying illegally in the country.
