LAHORE - The speakers at Hameed Nizami Press Institute of Pakistan (HNPIP) on Saturday hoped that after completion China- Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC), Pakistan would become a developed state of the world. The need is to keep it aloof from politics like it was done in Kala Bagh Dam issue, they urged.
They expressed these views at Hameed Nizami Press Institute of Pakistan that arranged a seminar on ‘Pak-China Economic Corridor and Allied Projects’ at HNPIP Auditorium near China Chowk on Saturday. Speakers included Iftikharul Haq, a Highways expert, Naheed Ghazanfar UET Syndicate member, Dr Khalil Ahmad, Mian Fazal Ahmad and Omer Zaheer Mir, while HNPIP Director Absar Abdul Ali was the moderator.
They were of the view that after completion of the economic corridor, 16,000km distance would be reduced to only 5,000km and the Pakistani government would get billions of rupees. They added that some countries wanted failure of this project as ports like UAE and others would shun functioning after this development.
However, the corridor would greatly benefit Central Asian states, they held.
A resolution was also passed in the seminar which said that the economic corridor project would bring revolution in the country. The federal government should bring reforms for early completion of this project so that it could be completed without addition in its cost.
