Robbers who looted ex-police chief house nabbed

LAHORE - Lahore police on Thursday claimed to have smashed a gang of most-wanted criminals by arresting its five members involved in several house robberies including an armed robbery at the residence of former provincial police chief.
Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and Lahore CCPO Chaudhry Shafique Ahmad while addressing a press conference at Police Lines said the police also recovered looted cash and valuables worth Rs200 million. DIG (Investigation) Zulfiqar Hameed and SP Umar Virk were also present on this occasion.
According to police, the bandits robbed the houses of two former IGs, a federal minister, and some industrialists in different cities. Police also recovered hand grenades, rifles, and pistols from them.
The arrested were named as Hassan alias Bhalla, Raja Shamrez, Waseem, Shakeel Kiyani and Naseem Kashmiri. During preliminary investigations, they had confessed to more that 50 robberies in Lahore, Karachi, Sheikhupura, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Azad Kashmir.
