121 suspects arrested

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Model Town Police Division (investigation wing) have taken 121 suspects in police custody in connection with a crackdown launched against suspicious elements in wake of upcoming Muharram and religious congregation at Raiwind City area. The operation is being conducted in Hanjerwal, Chung and other police areas lying near to the Raiwind City. We have taken surety bonds from them with a promise they would never allow any suspect to stay at their home during the holy month and Tableeghi congregation, SP Shoaib Khurram Janbaz said. He said that the on-going operation is underway till November 17. SP said the operation was being launched after mutual consultation with higher authorities and other relevant departments. He, however, said dozens of the arrested suspects have been released after promises, surety bonds and elders of the area assured they would never allow any anti-state activity. Meanwhile, a 25-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries whereas her three-year-old daughter survived by miracle when a speeding bus hit a motorcycle in Defence Police Precincts on Sunday. According to details, a bus of Route No-36, crushed a family while riding a motorbike near X-Block, Defence, leaving the family in pool of blood. An on duty police officer said that a woman namely Sajida died on the spot whereas her husband Abdul Razzaq and a daughter were rushed to a nearby hospital where their condition is told stable. Earlier, the body was shifted to the City morgue for autopsy. However, the bus driver managed to flee from the crime scene. Further investigations are underway with no arrest so far.
