EPD to address environmental issues

LAHORE - Provincial Minister for Environment Protection Department (EPD) Col (r) Shuja Khanzada has said the EPD is going to establish a committee comprising 35 members to keep Punjab clean and control the environmental issues.
He was presiding over a seminar on the environmental laws and legislation arranged by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Friday.
Khanzada said the environmental issues have gained a significant importance across the world and every country is focusing to overcome the environmental problems. The minister said the environmental problems cannot be solved without cooperation of masses. He said more environment committees will be formulated soon which will go door to door to alert people regarding environmental issues.
He said the Punjab government has decided to install water treatment plants on drains including Hadayara Drain to control pollution in River Ravi. He said the seminars will be arranged related to environmental issues in which the environment specialists will be invited from all over the world. He said the EPD is working to overcome the issues and people will see the results soon.
