LAHORE  - A father of five ended his life by swallowing poisonous pills at his house in Nishtar Colony. Wife of the deceased told the police that jobless Farooq had been suffering from financial constraints for the last couple of months.
He got disillusioned since he was unable to feed the family. Late Friday, he went to bedroom and committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills. Police have removed the body to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating.
Stray bullet takes life: A 22-year-old man received a bullet in the neck when he was talking to somebody on his mobile phone at the rooftop of his house in Qila Gujjar Singh, police said Saturday.
Resident of Rehman Street (No 19), Muhammad Nabeel, was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced as brought dead. Father of a boy, Nabeel, had been working as salesman at a shop in the area. The family told the police that Nabeel sustained a stray bullet at the rooftop of his house and died instantly. Police are investigating.
SHOT DEAD: A 27-year-old man was shot dead over monetary dispute in Mughalpura, police said. Kamran Ishaq was working with a moviemaker at Sahr Road. The complainant told the police that Sajid along with his accomplices intercepted Kamran outside his house and pumped five bullets into his body. The killers fled from the scene on their motorcycle while Kamran died on the spot. Police investigators said that Sajid had a monetary dispute with Kamran. Police have registered a murder case against the killers and are investigating with no arrest made yet. The body was moved to the morgue for autopsy.
Wasa staffer held: The Anti-Corruption Establishment has arrested a Wasa official allegedly involved in taking bribe from a citizen, said spokesman for ACE on Saturday.
He said that a woman Nazeeran Bibi complained to the ACE director that one field inspector Saif Ullah was demanding Rs57,000 as bribe to settle her bills.
An inquiry was held wherein accused Saif was found guilty and a case was registered against him. Saif escaped and was declared proclaim offender by the court. But Circle Officer Zubair Akhlaq conducted raid and arrested Saif on Saturday.
