PU providing research facilities

LAHORE - Vice-Chancellor Punjab University Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that the administration is endeavouring to further improve existing facilities and infrastructure at varsity fish farm so that modern fisheries research facilities can be extended to students and researchers. He was inaugurating the sale of fish at University Fish Farm at New Campus on Tuesday. Dean Life Sciences Prof Dr Shahida Hasnain, Director IBB Prof Dr Amin Athar, Chairman Physics Department Prof Dr Shaukat Ali, Advisor Col. Ikramullah Khan, Resident Officers-I & II Prof Javed Sami and Malik Muhammad Zaheer, faculty members and a large number of students were also present. In his brief welcoming remarks, PU Registrar and Chairman Zoology Department Prof Dr Muhammad Akhtar said the event was organised by Zoology Department at the start of winter each year. He said the Research Fish Farm was initially run under the supervision of Dean Life Sciences Prof Dr Shahida Hasnain. The objective of establishment of Fish Farm was to create facilities for fisheries research students at BS, MSc, MS, MPhil and PhD level. The fisheries study area was very well developed in Zoology Department with four learned professors and supporting staff.
