Ayaz to move LHC against NA-122 tribunal verdict

LAHORE - Ali Sadiq, son of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has said that the election tribunal judge violated the order of the Supreme Court while announcing verdict on a controversial matter of NA-122 and a contempt petition will be filed against him in the Lahore High Court.
Sadiq has also decided to challenge the order of the tribunal before the Lahore High court, wherein the inspection and recounting of votes of NA-122 has also been ordered. He termed the proceedings of the election tribunal illegal, saying that they were not heard in the proceedings. He expressed these views while holding a press conference along with Advocate Asjad Saeed here on Sunday.
Sadiq stated that under the light of the Supreme Court order of January 2014, the tribunal judge was bound to decide the maintainability of the case first and then to proceed further but he did not do so. He said that they requested the tribunal to hear the maintainability of the case even then he ignored their requests.
Criticising the decision announced by the tribunal regarding the inspection and recounting of the record of the constituency concerned, he said that six witnesses who had recorded their statements had not been from the relevant area of the constituency.
Moreover, the witnesses who had recorded their statements were unaware about the process while Imran Khan himself did not know who had rigged the elections, he added. He stated that when Mr. Khan was asked about those who had rigged the elections, he said that he did not know anyone and heard someone saying to him that the elections in the constituency concerned was rigged.
Ali Sadiq said that now his father did not want stay order on the decision announced by the tribunal; he wanted justice from the court on the provided evidences.
He alleged that Imran Khan intentionally delayed the matter and later made noise on it. Counsel of Ayaz Sadiq Advocate Asjad Saeed filed the petition on July 5, 2013 and tribunal was bound to decide the matter within four months time but it was pending till Nov 5, 2013. The counsel said that they filed a petition against the proceedings of the tribunal in Lahore High Court and the court stayed the proceedings on Nov 20, 2014. The documents affixed by Khan were also faked as fake oath commissioner verified them and this is all showed that the delayed was done by PTI itself and till May 2014, no reply was filed in the LHC on behalf of Khan.
Answering a question that how they can file contempt petition against a sitting judge, the Advocate said that the courts have sanctity and if anyone violates the sanctity of the courts by not obeying its previous order or by any other way can be taken to justice and contempt petition can be filed against him.
