More rains expected in City

LAHORE - The City received light rain on Monday, making weather pleasant by causing considerable decrease in the mercury level. Experts have forecast cloudy weather with chances of more rains for the City during the next 24 hours. Overcast conditions, continuously blowing winds and scattered rains caused decrease in maximum and minimum temperature, providing respite to the Lahorites from harsh weather conditions. Maximum temperature in the City decreased by 8 degree Celsius, ending up at 35 C on Monday. Minimum temperature was recorded 26 C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded 52 percent, which decreased to 39 percent in the evening. Major parks and picnic spots in the City attracted a large number of people including women and children in the evening. Huge rush was witnessed at Bagh-e-Jinnah, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Racecourse Park, Jallo Park, Lahore Zoo and other picnic spots in the City. At noon and in the afternoon, Lahore canal as usual attracted a large number of people including women and children. Not only youths, but also elderly people were seen taking a bath in the mud colour canal water. At some places, even women were seen taking a dip in the Lahore canal. According to the experts, westerly wave persists over upper parts of the country. Local meteorological department has forecast rains at scattered places of North Punjab, Khyber PK, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the next 24 hours. On Monday, Saidu Sharif received 29 mm rain, Dir 18 mm, Balakot and Zhob 05 mm each, Astore and Faisalabad 04 mm each, Kohat, Jhang and Muzaffarabad 02 mm each, Gilgit 01 mm while Bunji, Hunza, Jhelum, D I Khan, Chakkar, Skardu and Islamabad received traces of rain.
