At least five persons were killed and several others injured in separate rain-related incidents in various cities of Punjab on Saturday.
According to rescue sources, roof of a dilapidated house located at Kamahan Road, Niazi Chowk area of Lahore caved in due to heavy rain.
As a result of roof collapse all seven family members were buried under the rubble.
The rescue personnel rushed to the scene and dug out the injured from the debris and shifted them to General Hospital where three of them succumbed to their wounds. The victims include head of the house and two children.
In yet another incident of roof collapse in the city a man was killed and five others injured.
In Gujarwal area of Sahiwal, a man died while three others were injured when roof of their house suddenly came down as the area received heavy rainfall.
The locals on self help basis dug out the body and injured from rubble and shifted them to hospital.
Meanwhile, more than 20 people were injured in separate incidents of roofs, walls collapse in different cities of the province.
The flood inundated different localities in various districts of Punjab prompting the concerned district administrations to declare emergency and allocate beds in hospitals for meeting any emergent situation.
