Qadri due today

LAHORE - Pakistan Awami Tehreek chairman Dr Tahirul Qadir is arriving Pakistan from Canada on Wednesday morning to lead a party protest at The Mall on June 17.

The PAT has planned the sit-in and protest at front of Punjab Assembly on completion of two years of Model Town incident in which 14 PAT workers were killed and hundreds injured in deadly clash with Punjab Police. Qadri had called the incident as state terrorism, while independent analyst were of the opinion that the government acted in haste over the incident.

The outspoken leader who is also a recognised a know Islamic scholar will personally lead the Friday’s agitation and address the participants. The Lahore administration has given conditional permission for the sit-in demonstration.

The local TVs quoted his talk with reporters at the Heathrow Airport in London from where he departed for Lahore. “I promise to avenge the deaths of those killed in the Model Town incident. No progress has been made despite the fact that a one-sided inquiry committee had placed the blame on the Punjab government,” he said.

He is arriving at Lahore Airport from London on a flight of Qatar Airways. Dr Qadri is expected to welcome by a good number of party workers and supporters at the airport from where he would reach at PAT head-office in Model Town in form of a rally.

The PAT head will likely to announce future strategy during his speech to workers at The Mall. Sources say the PAT would start a countrywide protest demonstration against the government after Ramazan.
