Passerby killed, 2 hurt in crossfire over shop rent


LAHORE – A passer-by was shot dead while two others wounded during ‘crossfire’ between two groups over the dispute of shop rent in Mozang area, police said on Wednesday.
Police said that three passers-by wounded seriously when the tenants opened fire on the shop owner in Abid Market on Wednesday evening. The passers-by, identified as Muhammad Siddique, Tahir Butt, and Asif, were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Muhammad Siddique succumbed to bullet wounds.
Police said that one Tahir had taken a shop situated in Abid Market on rent from Atta Muhammad. On the day of incident, Muhammad Muad, son of the owner, visited the shop to collect the monthly rent where Tahir exchanged hot words with Muad.
Later, Tahir telephoned his accomplices who reached the spot within no time. The gunmen opened straight fire on Muad and his father. But unfortunately, three passers-by sustained multiple bullet wounds. The gunfire also created fear and terror in the congested and densely populated area, as many people were seen racing towards safe places to save their lives.
