Female lawyer shot dead by bike riders

LAHORE Unidentified motorcyclists on Saturday afternoon shot dead a 37-year-old female lawyer and fled away. The cold-blood muder took place in the Burki police precincts, police sources said. The mother of two, Anjum Akbar, was going to her house in her car (LED-1553) when the unidentified men intercepted her near Ludhar Interchange (Jammu bus-stop). They fired at her point blank. The resident of Defence (Phase-V), Anjum sustained multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot. She was residing at Defense with her two daughters while her husband is currently living in the US, police officials said. A murder case was registered while no arrests were made till the filing of this report. BODY RECOVERED: A 45-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances from the Lower Mall police area. The police investigators said the man, yet to be identified, , was lying dead alongside a road near Data Darbar. Some passersby spotted the body and contacted us by phone. We have removed the body to the morgue for an autopsy while investigations are under way, a policeman said. Porno arrests: The Faisal Town police raided a private internet caf and arrested three teenage students for watching porno movies, police sources said on Saturday. Police sources said that the police raided the internet caf after the local residents complained that the management of the caf was providing access to objectionable websites to the students. The police have registered the case and are investigating. Booty returened: As per the court orders, SSP Investigation Abdul Razzaq Cheema and SP CIA Muhammad Umer Virk on Saturday handed over the recovered stolen property to their rightful owners included Sufyan, Afrad Hussain and Afeez Akbar, as laid down in rules and procedure, police spokesman said. Police sources said that the victim had to move the local court to get his stolen property back from the police investigators who were using delaying tactics in this regard. According to a police handout, the investigation police traced culprits involved in seven different cases registered at Ghalib Market, City Raiwind, Nishtar Colony, Factory Area and Mozang police stations and recovered Rs 160,000, one pickup, one motorcycle, an air conditioner and gold ornaments from them.
