Clerics urge govt to avoid restrictions

LAHORE - Ulema from various school of thoughts have stressed the need for putting trivial differences aside and working jointly for the solidarity, prosperity and progress of the country.
Speaking at a conference arranged by Pakistan Ulema Council in Islamabad the other day, they welcomed the government decision of banning people involved in hate speeches. They urged the government to avoid unnecessary restriction on Ulema.
Chairman PUC Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi chaired the conference attended by Zahid Qasmi, Muhammad Khan Leghari, Qazi A Qadeer Khamosh, Hafiz Amjad, A Hameed Sabri, Tahir Aqeel, Nauman Asher, Shabbir Usman, Ali Siraj and Ghazanfar Abbas.
The speakers urged the government to take action against people using abusive language against any sect or scholar. They urged organizers and law enforcement agencies to cooperate and coordinate for proper security of venues of Majalis and on route of processions.
Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said that unanimous code of conduct would be presented in the coming meeting of Islamic Ideological Council for approval. He appreciated provincial governments for appropriate security arrangements.
