Imran taken aback by US ‘silence’

LAHORE - Slamming the government for its weak protest over a sacrilegious movie made in the United States, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan questioned the ‘silence’ of the American authorities over the issue.
In a statement on Friday, Imran said he was surprised by the silence of the US administration over this serious crime though the US had laws to punish the people involved in hate crimes.
He said the blasphemous film was the worst example of hate crimes and religious terrorism against Muslims and the US authorities could not hide themselves behind the freedom of expression in this particular case.
Imran called on President Asif Ali Zardari to mount up pressure on the US to bring the culprits to justice. The PTI chief called for adopting a joint strategy against such acts.
