More rains ahead

LAHORE - Parts of the country including Lahore received rainfall of varying intensities on Sunday with experts predicting more rains during the next 24 hours.
Cloudiness, rains and continuously blowing winds caused considerable decrease in the mercury level, making weather pleasant. Rain-thundershowers occurred at scattered places of Islamabad, Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha divisions), Kashmir and at isolated places of Kohat, Hazara divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan.  In Lahore, strong winds started blowing in the morning that followed by scattered rains. Rains, though light, added to the woes of motorists and pedestrians as rainwater inundated on portions of roads and roadsides. The rains, however, made the weather pleasant by causing considerable decrease in the mercury level. People come out of their houses in the evening to enjoy pleasant change in weather. Major parks and picnic spots attracted a large number of people in the evening.  Maximum and minimum temperature in Lahore was recorded 33 degree Celsius and 23 C respectively. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded 57 per cent.
According to the experts, seasonal low lies over north Baluchistan and adjoining areas. Weak monsoon currents are penetrating into upper parts of the country. A shallow trough of westerly wave is also prevailing over Kashmir and adjoining areas. The local meteorological department has forecast rain-thundershowers at isolated places in Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha divisions), Malakand, Hazara, Kohat divisions, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next 24 hours. Hot and humid weather is expected elsewhere in the country.  On Sunday, Islamabad and Rawalpindi received 46 mm rain, Mandibahauddin 37 mm, Sargodha 35 mm, Garhi Dupatta 30 mm, Mangla 25 mm, Siakot 16 mm, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Jhelum and Chakwal 15 mm each, Lahore 13 mm, Gujrat 10 mm, Rawalakot 08 mm, Johar Abad 07 mm, Gujranwala 06 mm, Murree 05 mm, Kasur, Balakot and Kakul 01 mm each.
