LAHORE: Syed Tahir Amin, sub editor at The Nation, died of protracted illness yesterday. He was around 54.
Syed Tahir was associated with The Nation for more than 26 years. Earlier, he served the organisation in computer section and later he joined the Commerce desk. He remained under treatment for about six months.
The deceased was also council member of the Lahore Press Club and Executive Member of Desk Editors Forum. He was laid to rest at his family graveyard of Nafeer Abad Shrine. A large number of journalists and relatives attended his funeral prayers.
Syed Tahir Amin is survived by a widow, one son and two daughters. The Nation and Nawa-i-Waqt staff offered heartfelt grief and sorrow over his death.
They prayed for fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Quran Khawani for the departed soul will be held today (Saturday) at Masjid Gullu Shah, Nafeer Abad, near Dhobi Ghat stop, GT Road, Lahore.–Staff Reporter
