LAHORE – A total of 16 stolen vehicles worth over Rs8 million have been recovered by Anti-Vehicle Lifting Staff Cantonment Division, arresting the ringleader of Adnan Dhakan gang along with one accomplice.
During preliminary interrogation, the accused have confessed to committing at least 22 car thefts in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sheikuhpura and Nankana Sahib Districts.
According to the details, DIG and SSP Investigations initiated steps for curbing the trend of car lifting besides effecting recovery of the stolen vehicles.
The handout issued by CCPO Office said the car-lifters disclosed that they used to assemble after having contact each other on mobile phones.
They used to steal the vehicles from hospitals and other parking stands as well as the vehicles parked in streets using master key and later these vehicles were disposed off in tribal belt and other districts of Punjab. A total of 16 cases have been traced against them and further investigations are underway.
PES responds to 64 accidents:  The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue-1122) responded to over 64 traffic accidents on August 14 in various districts of Punjab.
The spokesman said out of theses, 28 victims were provided treatment on the spot whereas 36 seriously injured victims were shifted to various hospitals. PES Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer while reviewing the data of one-wheeling affected victims, said that people should realise that these motorcyclists not only put their own lives in danger, but also pose a threat to others lives.
“The majority of these motorcyclists is the sole bread-winners of their families and loss of life cripples the whole family, thus causing a significant socio-economic impact,” he stated. The DG said the number of motorcyclists attempting such stunts was increasing at a worrying rate each year.
He further believed as in the past, if this resurgence of one-wheeling ‘gangs’ went unchecked then it could lead to a dangerous trend within upcoming year. He requested the families especially the parents to advise their children to avoid indulging in dangerous acts.
