Punjab to get pure water in 5 years

LAHORE  - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said within next five years availability of pure water to every citizen in Punjab will be ensured for which purpose the government has planned to install filtration plants in every district under the Saaf Paani Project.
The Chief Minister said this while talking to a delegation of Qarshi Industries and partners which, on the occasion, also announced to provide one crore bottles, worth Rs 77crore of water purifiers, “Aab-e-Nuqra”, to the government for their further distribution among the people.
The chief minister thanked the Qarshi delegation and said provision of clean drinking water is essential to protect the citizens from diseases and the government fulfilling its responsibilities in this regard, is spending billions of rupees to ensure supply of potable water to the people.
The chief minister said the project of water purification plants by Qarshi Industries will also be useful, however, he added, the project should be state-of-the-art.
The Chief Minister has also constituted a committee to supervise the use of medicine for purifying the water and the process of distribution among the people. He said that this medicine should be used on priority basis, in the areas while the water is contaminated. He directed that seminars should be arranged at district and tehsil levels for creating awareness among the people about the medicine for purifying the water.
